Ever wonder how you got where you are? What you’re made of? What you’re made for? These questions are what brought The Mosaic Calling into existence.
“We bought a coffee farm in Uganda”
You may be wondering why a couple from Tennessee would take on such a venture. But God had spoken a vision to our hearts, giving us little pieces throughout our lives and perfectly coordinating them into a beautiful mosaic. Spoiler alert- the mosaic does not consist of just one coffee farm either.
A mosaic is a picture or pattern produced by arranging together small colored pieces of hard material, such as stone, tile, or glass. With each event, each calling, each trial, God has placed another piece in place for the ultimate vision.
We only began to see the overall picture in December 2021, with a mission trip to Uganda. We were assisting with the beginnings of a friend’s coffee business while preparing for the trip in December. With the never- ending coffee tastings, paired with a growing understanding of the severe poverty, lack of education and lack of employment in Uganda, and the notion of “teach a man to fish”- an idea was born.
This idea eventually grew into a calling much larger than originally imagined. Our previous experiences with South American missions trips, a word spoken more than decade earlier of “not yet” in Asia, and a new connection in Africa has now become an international vision of providing employment for unemployed families through coffee farms, while also partnering with local Christian schools to provide a Christ- centered education in under- educated regions of South America, Asia, and Africa.
Each calling is a part of the larger mosaic of the love of Christ. Join us in our mission and discover how the pieces of your life fit into The Mosaic Calling.
Each farm is run by a local family, providing them with income. Additional proceeds will be donated to a local Christian school in that same region. Bananas and other leafy plants, grown with the coffee to protect it, will also be donated to the schools to provide food for the children. The farms are named Anatawala which is Swahili for "He Reigns" which is a popular Newsboys song that inspired the project to span Africa, Asia, and South America.
We partner with local Christian schools in order to provide consistent support for the students by providing for tuition fees, uniforms, additional building needs, food and supplies. By providing these “mercy ministries”, we are able to also provide for their spiritual needs and show them the love of Christ. These needs are met by the additional profits made by the coffee farm. Additionally, bananas are grown alongside coffee to shade the coffee plans. These bananas are picked and sent to the school for the children to eat.
“Teach a man to fish”... by providing employment in communities that are under and unemployed, we are able to make lasting connections and provide for communities' spiritual needs as well, for generations to come.
